MOHAMMED FAREA

RIYADH

“I love the Najd forever”

Born in 1968, Mohammed Farea is one of the youngest members of the Riyadh Fine Art Group. Trained as an architect he also works for a Riyadh-based architecture firm. He is a self-taught artist, having joined the Miftaha Arts Village in Abha aged 22.

The stylised buildings in his work are reminiscent of traditional buildings in the Najd region of Saudi Arabia, fleshing out Farea’s concern that this style of architecture is an essential part of the nation’s heritage and should be preserved.

An equally important facet of his work is the significance of the circle, an element that recurs throughout his work. For Farea, everything vital in our existence is related to the movement of the circle.
